23 June 2012 was a special day for my cousin Melissa & husband Derong. The day when they become Husband and Wife. As part of what a cousin can help to celebrate the special occasion, I decided to do a mini comic slide show of their courtship days and to be screen during the wedding dinner. At the same time, to take this opportunity to practice a bit of colour scripting and illustrating 'super deformed' characters.
The making of the slide show was a wonderful and fun experience with the couple as they shared their story
and in discussion of the story details.
The execution was a fruitful learning experience. I realize there's a lot more I have to learn in attempting to translate and simplifying forms, to be able to extract what is of essence and be able to accentuate and express it in a different style.
Here are some painted frames from the slide show. Going to touch up these individually in the following weeks and translate some of the other images from the slide show to compile them together into a printed mini comic booklet as a extended wedding gift. :)
(painted these across a few weekends in the month of June 2012)
feedback & critique welcome
